Congratulations to Samantha Pink Bennett, who, as of April 2012, was officially named Director of Public Relations and Social Media for the Community-Academic Consortium for Research on Alternative Sexualities (CARAS).
Founded in 2005, CARAS is a national-level, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports research addressing understudied sexual communities with a current focus on BDSM/leather/kink/fetish sexualities and consensual non-monogamous relationships. CARAS disseminates research results to alternative sexuality communities, scientific researchers, and decision-makers in society such as doctors, lawyers, therapists, judges, and other public officials. CARAS also sponsors conferences that educate and train therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists and other clinicians about alternative sexualities and how to provide services to people within these communities. The long-term mission of CARAS is to provide grounded, evidence-based facts and knowledge about alternative sexualities and to improve the health and well-being of all people in alt-sex communities.
