As part of an effort to build state coalitions and educate mental health and substance use stakeholders on health reform implementation, SAMHSA is inviting state mental health and substance use consumer and peer organizations, recovery community organizations, family member organizations, provider organizations, and other behavioral health stakeholder organizations to participate in our Health Reform Learning Collaborative.  In an effort to maximize SAMHSA’s opportunity to support a limited number of States, only organizations in these 8 States are eligible:  Arizona, California, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, and Vermont.  Note that this project is open to stakeholder organizations, not individual members.  Only respond if you are a representative of a stakeholder organizations within the eligible states.

Benefits for participating in this pilot project include access to free educational webinars and resources for your organization’s members on key health reform topics such as Essential Health Benefits and the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act.  Please see attached information on Learning Collaborative Plan and Schedule for more detail on this project.

Additionally, we are also looking for organizations to help us coordinate the coalition within each state (become the state Coalition Coordinating Center).  Organizations that are chosen to be the Coalition Coordinating Center will receive additional customized technical assistance, opportunities to communicate with others working on health reform topics across the nation and support from national health reform experts.
